Can simplecv do this?

So a question, am I totally off base here. I have an idea, I'd like to use opencv or simplecv for, but I'm not sure if it can be done. I know very little about opencv and I'm hoping someone can at least tell me if what I'm considering is even possible. I'd like to present the camera with known shapes, lets say a trianble, a square, and a circle. All of these will be of known colors as well. If these shapes get "interrupted" something passes in front of them, or over them, ,etc -- I'd like to trigger an action.

Is this feasible? If so, what should I be reading to get started. I'm not the best at python -- I've written my share though -- but I'm a total newb to CV.

I should clarify that each object will trigger a different event. If the square is interrupted fire event A, Circle event B, etc.
