I am processing a video feed and then displaying the results in each frame. Currently i am drawing text on top of the image but its too crowded so I would like to add some sort of status bar/information area on the progress of detections in the video. What is the best way to do that.

I meant a view like this, under a video being displayed after it has been processed: https : //

I am not sure precisely what you are trying to do. Do you want to open up a second window, or do you just want to declutter your display? One solution would be to use the Image.embiggen function to add black space to the image and then add your text. The EZ View Text for the drawing layer could also clean up your display.

You could always update one of the GTK based examples ( Here you could add a progress bar instead of say a slider at the bottom. We've tried to make SimpleCV as GUI agonistic as possible with a few built in tools like writing text, but if you want something more advanced you will probably want to use some form of GUI tools such as GTK, QT, Tk, etc.

Thanks @xamox for the pointer, I am in fact planning to use QT later for full blown GUI but for now I needed to display info using a command like EZ view text but on a drawing layer attached to the display window, so that i can keep it off the video.
