SimpleCV is still actively mantained?

Hello! I need to use a Python Computer Vision framework for a quick demo which could grow in the future. 1) What I'm interested is to know if it still actively developed and mantained. 2) Also I would like to see the YouTube videos referenced in the articles, but this is not currently possible due to the fact that the author closed his YouTube account. Can you please add the videos again so that we can understand your work better? 3) Do you have any suggestions on how to integrate this with Popcorn.js - a javascript library - for which is a perfect fit? Should we use Django or another similar framework? I think if this would be doable in an easy way it would be quite a strength for your library. Thanks!

Yes, it is actively maintained, almost daily. You can see current development here:

The videos had been accidentally deleted. We have some videos in the works and will be of much higher production quality than before. We apologize for that. The first videos I will probably record is installation videos again, if you have something in particular you would like demostrated feel free to let me know.

As for popcorn.js, we have run across many platform issues, and I think the solution is to push everything to the web browser. As katherine mentioned we have SimpleSeer although maybe a lot more than you need, we do have some things in the work and are pushing that way so bear with us. I think we may move to web based here shortly with something like processing.js for display and jinja as a templating engine. A quick test shows me that I can embed webkit so this also maybe a solution.

You can always submit feature request on our ticket system as well:

Yes the library is actively maintained. We accidentally killed the youtube account and we were unable to recover the videos. We should have some new video material soon. As for popcorn,js the best I can suggest is to take a look at our SimpleSeer product to get a sense for how we perform javascript integration ( Perhaps xamox can make a few suggestions.

OK. Thanks! I've noticed that you update quite often. Thanks for that :) I think you should consider both Processing (this would be a perfect fit for image processing) and Popcorn (perfect fit for video integration). I am usually using D3 for SVG generation, so I'm not a Processing fan, but that's not important. I really hope in the future you will also consider Popcorn. Web Video and Semantic Multimedia stuff in general represent the future so the idea to move towards web is brilliant! Thanks again! And keep up the good work!

Yeah, sorry, I forgot to mention I started working on this. I got it basically working with Flask, jquery, and it's taking snapshots.

I want to do some more work before I merge it into master.

I should mention that I will take a look at popcorn.js as well. I need to still think how to architect the backend to minimize the code.

sample user story could be: do a video mash-up, identify named entities, display info on these entities from other sources(Twitter, DBPedia/Wikipedia), identify them in the video (here I think SimpleCV would help), display info on the video files and extracted features, etc (also SimpleCV)

Sorry I think that it might be not a proper place to write my query.

Hi xamos, I tried installing simpleseer using the installation instruction but its failling in the npm step. I tried searching for a solution also but could not get any. It would be very helpful if we can a detailed installation steps with what are the various requirements. I have simplecv working fine.

Also one more thing it is not clear how to use simpleseer like a hello world example or similar example will be a great help. Thanking you in anticipation.
