Hi guys,

I am working on a small project which is a system to detect a row of 5-8 car parking areas using a webcam Logitech 9000. I want the program to be able to detect and distinguish occupied and/from unoccupied areas. Is there any code out there to help guide me get this done soon?

I am running SimpleCV on Windows 7 64 bit (also have 32 bit).

Thanks a lot.

This isn't the only or perfect way to do this, but you could look for yellow lines, use those lines to fixture a region of interest. Then do some form of color matching (maching learning with SVM would probably work well), if the color doesn't match then there is probably a car there. You could probably also do some form of texture analysis to look for a certain amount of pavement texture to be present.
