I've been trying to install SimpleCV on Windows 8 and have been having a lot of trouble. I've tried using the superpack from the simplecv website and it didn't work right off the bat. Then I tried installing the components separately and that didn't work either. If I use the import SimpleCV I get the following error:

Traceback (most recent call last): File "<pyshell#0>", line 1, in <module> import SimpleCV File "C:\Python27\lib\site-packages\SimpleCV_init_.py", line 3, in <module> from SimpleCV.base import * File "C:\Python27\lib\site-packages\SimpleCV\base.py", line 21, in <module> import pygame as pg ImportError: No module named pygame</module></module></module></pyshell#0>

1 - Install setuptools setup tools download

2 - Install pip pip download

For me, this installed Pip at C:\Python27\Scripts\pip.exe. Add your analogue of C:\Python27\Scripts to your path (Start / Edit environment variables). Now you should be able to run pip from the command line.

then you can use

pip install pygame

and pip install any_package
