How can I inline non-simplecv figures in the simplcecv notebook?

I've been using simplecv with the ipython notebook by invoking simplecv notebook --pylab=inline at the command line.

This works very well for all simplecv figures (e.g.: Image(/path/to/image.png).show()), but I can't get any matplotlib figures to appear inline. They always show up as floating figures.

How can this be fixed?

On an unrelated note, I can't seem to figure out how to comment on answers, which is pretty annoying since I often need to respond to follow-up questions. Have I missed something obvious?

Are you running from the superpack or by cloning the github source? Are you importing pylab or pyplot?

@kscottz, I tried a variety of things. First of all, I cloned the github source using pip. I'm on Ubuntu (12.10). After launching the notebook as described above, I could not find the show command so I then imported pylab. I also tried the %pylab magic command.
